OH1XV 15 v 8 Hammersmith and Fulham, Saturday 28 March 2015

Posted by danmin on Apr 10, 2015

The 1st XV played extremely well to win 8 – 15 away at Hammersmith & Fulham who had been 2nd in the league before Saturday’s results. The last 5 minutes with OH down to 13 men due to yellow cards saw a herculean defensive effort to keep the opposition from scoring. Here is Simon Miller’s match report :   “Both teams turned up looking to play a fast game. The pitch was dry and the referee (Argentinean) made it very clear that he wanted a clear tackle area so the game could flow. This is exactly what happened and the opening 10 minutes was played at a frantic pace. H & F had the better of the possession and although they aren’t the biggest side they certainly have the most committed runners I’ve seen in this league, coming at us again and again. We had spoken about defence before the game and it seemed to work as our line speed was good and we kept on chopping them down. eventually though and perhaps slightly unnecessarily we conceded a penalty and they knocked it over to take a 3-0 lead. More of the same followed and they spend a good amount of time in our half and 22. Frustratingly despite the defence working very hard for long period we had a lapse in concentration and didn’t go up together allowing them to go back towards a ruck and get within a few meters of the line and then go over in the corner. They missed the conversion 8-0.   We finally got some good possession, our scrum probably slightly had...

With Chiswick drawing, and Hammersmith & Fulham to play next weekend, Habs are hopeful of sneaking 2nd place in the League.  On this form, they absolutely deserve to be...

Habs got another win on the board with a clinical bonus point victory over St Albans, making it five in a row. Try of the match from Twitch, apparently.

OH1XV 35 v 3 HAC, Saturday 07 February 2015

Posted by danmin on Feb 9, 2015

A common theme, this time HAC were on the receiving end of Habs turn of  form since the early part of the season.  Habs should have beaten HAC away in October, but missed the last kick of the game to win it.  But that performance was the catalyst for the change in fortunes which has seen Habs put together an excellent series of performances since then and consequently moved them up the table.  This time round there was no mistakes, with a comfortable bonus point vicotry in front of the usual raucous (post lunch)...
